Apple: Jony Ive ist unser Mann!

Tja in diesem Jahr wurde Sir Jonathan Ive in die TIME 100 gewählt. Diese traditionelle Liste des TIME Magazine benennt die 100 einflussreichsten Menschen der Welt.

Apples Design-Genie wird in der Kategorie „Artists“ geführt. Eine Reihenfolge 1 bis 100 gibt es dabei nicht. Wer drin ist, ist drin! Auch der Papst oder Barack Obama sind in der TIME 100 vertreten. U2-Frontmann Bono würdigt ihn dabei in einem Interview und vergleicht Jony mit dem Star Wars Charakter Obi-Wan Kenobi: 

Jony Ive is himself classic Apple. Brushed steel, polished glass hardware, complicated software honed to simplicity. His genius is not just his ability to see what others cannot but also how he applies it. To watch him with his workmates in the holy of holies, Apple’s design lab, or on a night out is to observe a very rare esprit de corps. They love their boss, and he loves them. What the competitors don’t seem to understand is you cannot get people this smart to work this hard just for money. Jony is Obi-Wan. His team are Jedi whose nobility depends on the pursuit of greatness over profit, believing the latter will always follow the former, stubbornly passing up near-term good opportunities to pursue great ones in the distance. Jony’s values happen to add value — emotional and financial. It takes a unique alchemy of form and function for millions of people to feel so passionately about the robot in their pocket.

Wir finden, Jony sollte noch mehr Präsenz zeigen bzw. mehr in den Vordergrund rücken. Dies täte Apple sehr gut, denn wie auch Steve Jobs ist Jonathan Ive ein sehr charismatischer Typ, der Steve’s Werte und Ansichten mit sich trägt und so ein sehr gutes Aushängeschild für Apple darstellt. Sein Chef Tim Cook ist zwar ein sehr guter Manager aber doch eher kühl und emotionslos.

Jony macht als Gesicht von Apple da schon eher was her. Was meint ihr?
